Originally from the thumb area of Michigan,
I was raised on a dairy farm. Some of my earliest
memories, as a child, were the way colors played
on the Michigan landscapes. It was exciting to watch
this as the seasons changed.
I was introduced to pastels about two years
ago, and immediately fell in love with this medium.
I enjoy the purity of color, the playfulness of light and shadow, and pastels forgiving nature.
I enjoy experimenting with the possibilities
of light and color in my landscapes. It takes me
back to my youth, the farm, and the sense of serenity
I felt as a child. I often travel back to Mid Michigan
and the farm for inspiration. I’ve also found that
you don’t have to go very far to find good subject
matter. As a resident of Southwest Michigan I find
that we are blessed with an enormous wealth of
natural beauty.
Creating art enhances my awareness and
appreciation for the nature that surrounds me,
surrounds all of us. It’s this spirit that I feel and
this spirit that I share with you. |
